So You Think You Can Act? 2011

So You Think You Can Act? is an acting competition with a twist. It is an event where you can showcase your creativity and acting talents. Each team of 4 members will be given a Bible story to act out. In addition, they would have to include 4 variables that are based on pop culture and current events into their act. The variables are: Character, Theme/Setting, Tagline, and Prop. (Props would be provided by the organizers) Prizes would be given to the winning teams. :)

Don’t hesitate to contact 016-7987807 or post on the event wall for any information regarding this event.

For example, a combination of variables would be:

Story – Samson

Character – Darth Vader

Theme/Setting – Medieval

Tagline – “I will follow you” (Digi Yellow Man)

Prop – toy gun

To make the show more interesting, the teams would only be allowed to pick 2 variables of their choice. The other 2 will be assigned randomly. Also, the Tagline variable would only be revealed to the participants 10 minutes before the performance. Teams would be able to select the story themselves when they register. However, it is on a first-come-first-serve basis. So do not hesitate and register as fast as you can to get the story of your choice.

This competition is open to all INTI students*. Participants need NOT be members of INTI Christian Fellowship.

Baning of bibles in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 — The Bible Society of Malaysia is fighting to prevent the destruction by the federal government of 5,000 copies of “Al-Kitab: Berita Baik,” a Malay-language Christian bible, in the latest controversy which could have a bearing on this Sunday’s Sibu by-election.

The BSM has appealed to the Home Ministry not to destroy the bibles, which were seized in Port Klang on March 20 last year, but it may already be too late.

Its president, Lee Min Choon, said the society was informed in a letter from the Home Ministry Publication Control and Al-Quran text department, dated March 3, 2010, that the bibles would be destroyed within 30 days.

“We have since sent an appeal to the Home Ministry and the prime minister but our copies still have not been released,” Lee said.

The controversy comes as campaigning for this Sunday’s Sibu vote heads into the final lap.

The majority of voters there are Christians and the issue may have an impact on the contest between Barisan Nasional’s (BN) SUPP and Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) DAP.

Lee said today the copies of the Bahasa Malaysia-version of the Christian bible were imported from Indonesia and meant for Bahasa Malaysia-speaking Christians in the country.

However, Home Ministry Publication Control and Al-Quran text department deputy secretary Abdul Razak Abdul Latif told The Malaysain Insider that he was uncertain about the “status” of the bibles, since the letter issued by the ministry was dated March 3 and 30 days has since lapsed.

“But the importers can still write to us and if the bibles have not been disposed off, we can arrange for the copies to be returned to the country of origin.”

He added that the bibles were not seized but only barred from being imported into the country.

“We never seized the bibles and we don’t want to keep them.”

Police have already issued a ban against politicians raising the issue about the restriction on the use of the word “Allah” by non-Muslims, during campaigning for the Sibu vote.

The ban has been criticised by the DAP, which has been campaigning heavily in Christian churches.

Meanwhile, Lee pointed out that the society had been appealing to the Home Ministry to release the bibles since they were seized last year but their pleas had fallen on deaf ears.

Lee said the society was issuing the statement to clarify an article in the New Straits Times on May 12, which indicated that impounded bibles had been released.

“We understand the government has ordered the release of 10,000 copies of Al-Kitab, imported by another agency, that was impounded in Kuching. We hope the Government will release our 5,000 copies,” he concluded.

Time for a book review! Introducing myself as self proclaimed animelover + book nerd!

Not everyone gets to be at the top of the organisation, but everyone will at one point of time be in the middle. There is no question that leading from the middle is more than just possible and might very well make you more successful then you will ever be on the top. The question is how.
This book talks about how effective is your position from the middle and how to make use of it. When at the top, leading seems a lot easier. In fact, it might be easier because people will have to follow you. But in the middle, it is harder because your followers are based on your influence. The truth for us Christians is that leadership IS based on influence, which we should be glad because now, everyone CAN be a GOOD leader.
A few difference that had to be pointed out about leadership at the top and about leading in the middle.
Leadership at the middle is tricky because of it's nature. Purely based on influence. People around you need not necessarily follow you because either they are your peers or they are your higher ups. The book talks about how you can bring about your influence even to the top level and still keep to your leaders vision adding value to him and the vision.
" A team of leaders is better than A leader". This is taken from the book. LOL. The main idea is that as a team we have to work together to put the team first instead of ourselves first. sacrifices have to be made for each other in order to run the long run of teamwork. A nice way he put it. As an individual, if you are to run a race, you will finish it alone. That way you can run it how fast and how well you want. The leader on the other hand, have to run in such away that the teammates can keep up.

WE are a team of Christians with each part of the body as important as each other.The bible tells us that we are to help each other out in the race, if one is tired, encourage him, if one is hurt,tend to him. Honestly, I dislike the idea of a race but i prefer the idea of a marching army if I may. in a race, we tend to think of competition and not that it will be always unhealthy, but there is the tendency that we will get caught up in beating each other. But the idea of an army marching. If one of your comrades fell, that is 1 less person you have to watch your back.
Cover me, and I cover you
and value to me, and I add value to you.

How well are you wearing your sandwich sign?

Taken from a devotion material passed to us during the committee retreat and I personally believe its good to share good findings to all. Sit back and listen to the story.

A bridge near a town has broke down due to a storm and a few accidents had happened. The mayor of the town called up 3 men to him. Giving each of them a sandwich sign to wear, he told them, go stand in front of the bridge so that you can warn people that the bridge is down and they have to detour from the road. Keep warning them till I get people to repair the bridge. The 3 men immediately went on their way to the broken bridge.

All 3 men walked to a major crossroad to the bridge. The first men walked 100 yards away from the crossroadand stood there saying, my sign says "broken bridge" so I will stand at a fair distance so I can warn people ahead w. The 2nd man went a little nearer to the bridge and stood there. His sign read "reduce speed". He decided to stand not too far away from the 1st man so right after the warning that the bridge was broken, they will be told to slow down. And finally the 3rd man. He went on and stood near the crossroad that was heading towards the lane to the broken bridge. His sign read "right road only" with an arrow pointing towards the safe route.
Though the safe route was small and narrow, many were saved by this method.
But after hours, they grew lax in their task.
The first men decided to take a nap as he gotten sleepy. So he took of his sign and went aside to sleep. But a stone blocked his sign and it then read "bridge" instead of "broken" bridge.
The 2nd did not get sleepy, but persevered on. In fact, he grew conceited. The longer he stood with the warning, the more important he felt, and it added on when people pulled off to thank him for the job he is doing. As this went on, he thought he was more important then his sign, and presently took it off and stood beside it. but he stood a little to near the words and covered up the word "speed" making the sign read "reduce". Many thought it was a diet program he was advertising.
The 3rd was influenced by none of this. But he was concern about his message. It troubled him his message was so dogmatic and narrow. so he thought, people should be given a choice, who am I to tell people what is right or wrong? and so he changed the sign from "right road only" to "preferred road only" and later changed the word "preferred" to "suggested" It still didn't look right to him and he thought " people might feel offended with me telling them what to do or that they might not know something" and he continued and changed it to something else.
Finally, he came out with a new sign. " Right Road - 1 of 2 equally valid alternatives"
And so. The first man slept, 2nd stood and covered his sign, and the 3rd altered the message. One after another, the cars went into the river.

Now. lets say Christian walk is wearing a sandwich sign. How well have you worn it?

This is my sermon for the day! Let it minister to you in person, and when it has; endeavor to share with others!

You will enjoy the new insights that Rick Warren has, with his wife now having cancer and him having 'wealth' from the book sales. This is an absolutely incredible short interview with Rick Warren, 'Purpose Driven Life ' author and pastor of Saddle-back Church in California. In the interview by Paul Bradshaw with Rick Warren, Rick said:
People ask me, What is the purpose of life?
And I respond: In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were not made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven. One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body--but not the end of me. I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal. God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity... We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense. Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one. The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort; God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy. We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's not the goal of life. The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness.
This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer. I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore. Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life. No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on. And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for.. You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems:
If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness, which is my problem, my issues, my pain.' But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off your-self and onto God and others. We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it easy for her- It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people. You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life.
Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder. For instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15 million copies, it made me instantly very wealthy.
It also brought a lot of notoriety that I had never had to deal with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety for your own ego or for you to live a life of ease. So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money, notoriety and influence. He gave me two different passages that helped me decide what to do, II Corinthians 9and Psalm 72. First, in spite of all the money coming in, we would not change our lifestyle one bit... We made no major purchases.
Second, about midway through last year, I stopped taking a salary from the church. Third, we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick, and educate the next generation. Fourth, I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years since I started the church, and I gave it all back. It was liberating to be able to serve God for free. We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions? Popularity? Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness? Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes (for my life)? hen I get up in the morning, I sit on the side of my bed and say, God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know You more and love You better. God didn't put me on earth just to fulfill a to-do list. He's more interested in what I am than what I do.
That's why we're called human beings, not human doings.

Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.
Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.
Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.
Painful moments, TRUST GOD.
Every moment, THANK GOD...

We have come to the end of the semester and this Wednesday (7th April 2010) will be our last final farewell meeting! 16 of our friends will be leaving INTI to further their studies elsewhere and they are Jia Lerd, Erwin, Stanley, Eden, Danielle, Karen, Jonathan Teh, Charis, Karyn, Madonna, Victor Chen, Jennifer Lee, Alvin Victor, Emily Chee, Sheila and Yeow Ji Mi. If you are friends with any of them, do come for this meeting to give them a proper farewell and give thanks to God for everything that He has provided for them during their years at INTI. The farewell meeting will start at 6.30pm and end at around 10pm. The venue will be SC-1-1a. Remember also to bring your friends along for this occassion! Let's end the semester with a blast and we look forward to see you there!

e) The person nominated has to agree first before his/her name is put up for elections. If he/she rejects the nomination, his/her name will not be counted as a nominee.

f) Voting members are strongly encouraged to nominate ONLY if they had prayed about it and felt that there should be an alternative name up there.

g) In the event where there is no alternative nominee to contest the one that was suggested by the old committee, the person nominated by the old committee is deemed to be voted into his/her new committee post.

Awesome Rally!

INTI Christian Fellowship had a fantastic last Wednesday with the ICF Rally being held at the Multi Purpose Hall. Praise God for the wonderful PA system that was provided, the cool Psalmist Generation Band, the talented drama skit actors/actresses and a really anointed speaker in Pastor Christopher Long! We had guests from KTT, INTI Subang, Mara Banting and other colleges visiting us too. It was a night to remember with a great time of giving praise to God and His presence was truly there as there were many at the audience who accepted Christ on that night alongside with others who wanted to rededicate their lives to Christ.

A big thank you to all those that help out during the rally and God bless you! Our Wednesday meetings will resume on 17th March 2010 at 6.30pm in SC-1-1a. Remember: Say yes to God!

Weekly CF Meeting: Pre-rally Preparation

Harlow guys and gals,

This Wednesday's meeting will be our pre-rally session where we will be preparing ourselves for the massive event up ahead both in terms of physically, mentally and spiritually. Let us all pray that the rally invitations that we send to our friends will be answered and that every preparation will go well. As you can see, our posters are up around the INTI campus and whenever you see them, do tell your classmates or friends about it. We are expecting approximately 500 people to attend. This is a huge number but with faith and the aid of our Lord, all things are possible! So come down to SC-1-1a this Wed (3rd March) to join us in a time of preparation for the rally. Those of us who are involved as crew and committee of the rally are strongly encouraged to attend this pre-rally preparation meeting.

Praise God for just now's meeting!
I reeaaally wanna praise Him for His unfailing promise to us.
just wanna share a short testimony of the whole process...
Though troubles come one by one, we can really see God's blessings and grace in it

1) KTT people told me on Monday that they had this sudden compulsory event which a lot of them are involved and might not be able to make it for our cny meeting.
asked us to pray.
i shared with a few people and most of you guys just say "trust in God, He will make it come to pass." thanks for the encouragement and faith you've shown!
it was not until Wed afternoon that Maegyvear (KTT cf chairperson) approached their director and asked permission to come INTI.
and he msg to confirm their attendance on the afternoon itself.(few hours before meeting)

2) Our speaker (bishop ng) told me he'd this meeting with Anwar and all the other religious leaders at the same time on the same day on our meeting.
He'd decided to call that off because of the previous promise he'd made to share in our meeting. Praise God!

3) we started setting up(musical instruments and logistics) at 6pm. and once we're done with the set up, it started raining.
*esp thanks to fong yee and eden and all the rest, who prayed while they're walking in the rain, for the rain to stop for the night
we shifted everything out from the rooftop. got the key for SC-1-1A and decided to have worship practice in that room instead.
the rain stopped in 10 min time. and we really praised God for it! we shifted everything in again.

4) we have budget limitation. got to spend on posters, games, and esp refreshments. only managed to get 2 container of cookies and one basket of small oranges.
Thank you bishop and his wife (: for bringing the 2 boxes of mandarin oranges (though i did not request for it)

THANK YOU everyone! who'd make it a point to come and also to help out in the gathering.

Survivor Campus

Remember your first day in college? Wandering aimlessly like a castaway; looking at the weird buildings and their equally puzzling names; searching for the nearest Starbucks or for a place to get a drink for a buck. Then the thought comes into your head: "How am I going to SURVIVE the next four years?"

The first CF meeting of the year, Survivor Campus, will feature a session on campus survival tips, and we will be giving away our very own "Campus Survival Kit" which contains useful tools for surviving in Nilai. Also, as to keep up with our survivor theme, participants will have their faces painted!

By the way, our usual Fellowship Lunch has now been replaced by a dinner. It will be during/after the Survivor Campus event.

This year FES is calling urgently for the breaking down of the walls
of prejudice against our majority neighbor!  You all would know
that this is our 5th prophetic call for 2009-2012, from FES.  If you
don?t already know, please get your copy of the Gegaran Kini
from your staffworker. (Can get it from Jia Lerd)
 
For the past 1 year, all staff have been praying for our majority
neighbor (those who cannot openly hear the Gospel in our land)
and ourselves with regards to them.  This year, we want to invite
you to join us. 

   In praying, we can move unseen walls and ask God to bring
conviction upon us. Many of us have great prejudices buried within
ourselves.  We must act now, otherwise, we will be too late in
answering God's call to LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS AS OURSELVES. 
So, every Friday, we will remind you to pray.  But you can pray
anytime during the week. 

Please pray, and urgently too.  Many things are happening in our
country that is inviting people to hate.  We must be the ones who
put on our walking shoes, and WALK LOVE'S 1000 MILES!!!!!
 
Prayer :
Let us pray that in the light of all the demonstrations and
violence, and the recent upheaval concerning the use of the
word, "Allah", we as Christians will join in the revolution of
LOVE.  Pray that God will give us enough courage and
compassion to do so.

WE NEED TO PRAY!!

imagine if it's your church. i'm really sorry for Ji mi and his church members.

I've just read a mail from "the voice of Martyrs" - "the Persecution and prayer Alert" this morning. It has listed out all the churches and christians who are being persecuted (e.g. Churches bombed, pastors beaten up, jailed, christians tortured and so on.. )
Can't believe our churches in Malaysia itself are being attacked!

Prayer is definitely needed. Let's pray together!

For those of you like me, (need people to tell you news or else you're completely oblivious to it), there's been this whole debate of non muslim's being able to used the word 'Allah'.

As the title says, metro tabernacle church (the church Ji Mi attends-for those of you who know him) was fire bombed just last night. News reports say the admin part of the building got burned. For more details:

It has been awhile since we met each other. hmm, wondering how was your christmas and holidays.
time flies! and now is definitely a time for us to prepare ourselves for a new semester ahead with lotsa great things awaiting ;)
As i was packing my things, I happened to flip through this newsletter with an article talking about The Holy Spirit.
To my surprise, this article related very well to our surroundings and is not at all boring. I realized that i had so much more to learn about Holy Spirit, it is definitely something more than what I Feel and what I think it is.

The Holy Spirit unites rather than divides. Much of the activities of a church which carries out in the name of the Holy Spirit can become divisive or arrogant.

The Holy Spirit works in many ways, in different circumstances and in many places. the moment we narrow down the activity of the Holy Spirit, we become sectarian in our outlook. We may claim that we possess the Holy Spirit or our Church is the Spirit-filled Church.

The list that describes the Holy Spirit's activities or the symbols used are numerous. The church's main weakness is that she tends to over emphasize one or two dominant aspects of the Holy Spirit's activities. For example. "the Holy Spirit is like the rush of a mighty wind" (Acts 2;2). This is often the emotional side of the experience of the Holy Spirit. Tremendous power of the Holy Spirit is released in the lives of the believers. Healing, courage and strength to do the impossible happen in our experiences. The joy that comes from speaking in tongues. All are valid experiences of a spirit-filled life. But it should not stop there. or else the spirit-filled life can be shallow and naive.

The rational aspect of our life must also be touched by the Spirit, because "the Holy Spirit will guide us into all the truth" (John 16:130). The mind is to be transformed by the Spirit of truth. The Spirit of God enlightens or makes us aware of the truth that we either fail to see or is too dull and lazy to discern. Often, the spirit-filled Christians who rely more on emotion and experience may distrust the use of their minds. They can become narrow in thinking and dogmatic in attitude; that is, maintaining they are always on the right others are in the wrong. On the reverse, we can be so rational that we are cold to any emotional feelings at all. The Holy Spirit works at both the rational and emotional levels of our life. To experience one without the other makes our spiritual life incomplete.

To go further, I use another image. The Holy Spirit is like "tongues of fire". (Acts 2:3) Fire speaks of warmth and zeal. Life in the spirit without love and zeal can be cold and unattractive. We can be very sound in our understanding of God's word and display a number of spiritual gifts in our life, but lack the love in our relationship with other people. Our spiritual life is not bearing the fruits of the Holy Spirit. The lack of concern and the care for other people and the lack of commitment to the task that we undertake for God are signs of the shallowness in our spiritual growth, the zeal in our service for God, without love for him and those whom we minister to, is not a sustained one. It can be just an outburst, rather that a gradual and dedication to the task that we do, A spirit-filled life gives us the wholeness. It has breath, depth and height in our relationship with God and with other people and in the work we do.

well, after reading this. even before start judging and thinking that who has what to learn, let's take the time to look through our own lives.
emotional, rational, and warmth&zeal,
these 3 aspects of the Holy Spirit, which do we lack in? is there any aspect which we can work more on?
"A Spirit filled life gives us the wholeness. It has breath, depth and height in our relationship with God and with other people and in the work we do."

Let's use these 2 more days before 2009 ends, to reflect on what we have learnt this whole year. and in what areas can we improve ourselves to be a better person next year?

Your Weakness, God’s Glory

"For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us" (2 Corinthians 4:6-7 NIV).

In the same way God spoke light into the darkness at creation, today he speaks light into the darkness of our hearts. He fills us with the light of the Holy Spirit, so we're able to see God's face, Jesus, with greater clarity even as he transforms us into the likeness of Christ.

Our brother, Paul, explains we are jars of clay--fragile, chipped, imperfect--exactly as God designed us to be so others will see the "all-surpassing power" of God through our fractured and shattered lives. We stand as monuments of God's grace, and we bear an inscription written in God's own hand: "Within this earthen container, the One True God is at work."

Your weaknesses are a gift. You are God's jar of clay, designed exactly the way he intended. In the places you are weak, God is strong. Your weaknesses are an opportunity for God’s light to shine even brighter from within you.

You don't have to look good. So, stop trying! Just be who you are, a frail human designed by God to reveal his glory. Truthfully, we could use a whole lot more authenticity in the church. If you're hurt, say it; if you're angry, admit it; if you're in love, show it; if you're wrong, confess it; if you're in need, reveal it.

"This left Jacob all alone in the camp, and a man came and wrestled with him until the dawn began to break. When the man saw that he would not win the match, he touched Jacob’s hip and wrenched it out of its socket" (Genesis 32:24-25 NLT).

Are you in a crisis today? Congratulations! You're about to be changed. You don't have to stay the same. God is getting ready to make a change in your life.

The Bible teaches that our biggest struggle in life is with God because we want to be in control. We want to be God.

That was the problem that Jacob had, insisted he be able to control his life to such an extent that he even wanted to change the order of his birth. Jacob was a twin and the Bible says when he came out of his mother's womb, he was clinging to his older brother's ankle, grappling to be the first one out. He spent a lifetime in conflict with his brother, Esau, but his biggest battle was with God.

One night he even tried to go one-on-one with God. Some people want to debate who Jacob actually wrestled but the Bible tells us in Hosea: "Even in the womb, Jacob struggled with his brother; when he became a man, he even fought with God" (Hosea 12:3 NLT).

I want you to think of the biggest problem you've got right now. It probably will come to mind quickly; yet, regardless of what that problem is, I suspect it all boils down to these two issues.

1. 'Will I obey God in this situation and do what He says is the right thing to do, whether I like it or not?' Or,

2. 'Will I trust God in this situation, letting him handle it?'

No matter what your problem is--financial, physical, relational, social, and vocational--your biggest problem is not your problem. The real problem is not obeying and trusting God. And that makes the problem bigger.

Have you ever been in a no win situation? Perhaps you're in a 'no win situation' right now. Who do you think is behind that? God is! God backs you into a corner. Why? Because God often allows crisis in our lives in order to get our attention. All of a sudden we’re laid flat on our backs and we're forced to look up.

God loves you just the way you are, but He loves you far too much to let you just stay stuck in your habits, hang-ups and hurts. He wants to change you. He wants to help you grow, to be better, to be different, and to be all that you were meant to be. And so He allows a crisis.

Why? Because we rarely change until the pain we feel exceeds our fear of change. We don't change when we see the light; we change when we feel the heat.

God uses four phases in a situation to move you to where you need to be. Phase one is a crisis that gets your attention and forces you to look toward God. Pray about this: In what areas are you struggling with God?

Let's go M.A.D! (Make A Difference!)

We have come to an end of another semester and this Wednesday will be our last meeting for the semester! The Anglican Bishop of West Malaysia, Reverend Ng Moon Heng will be our speaker for this final meeting and he'll be speaking on how to make a difference and change the lives of those around us. It'll be a time to reflect on what we have done for this semester and let's be prepared for greater things to happen at ICF next semester! Meeting will be at SC-1-1a from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Do bring your friends along for this final meeting even though it's their first time! (Then they'll know what to expect next semester..haha). We look forward to see you there!

Prayer meeting will still commence on this Thursday from 6pm-7pm at INTIMA Council Room.

For Friday, there are no CG sessions at Academic Block B but we are going to have a farewell session from 12pm-2pm in SC-1-1a for those that are leaving INTI. We will order pizza for lunch, so please confirm your attendance and pay your CG leaders by Thursday night so that we can order your share :)

Remember, the semester may have ended but continue to shine for Christ during the holidays! :)

This is me!! Blogging after cf! Boy it's been a long time since I last type something substantial here also. Who won't agree with me that today's Cf was fantastic?? The message was great. Really touching. Didn't you cry? Haha. Ok, I know I did. But not very long la. It was touching wat.
Anyway, it was and still is refreshing to hear of someone speak of God's magnificence to such an extend, as well as to refresh us on how much our God loves us and what a big difference there is between Our God and us. What an awesome God he is. To think that he doesn't just dominates the realm of the spiritual and the Scientific but rules over them.
To tell the truth, I seen this message a number of times already, but it never failed to captivate me, and move me. Makes me wanna be more regular in my quiet time, makes me wanna pray more. Makes me feel like nothing embarrassing I do is embarrassing anymore. They are all small anyway.
Do continue, all of you to fight the good fight and run the race together, and at the end of the day, be able to say, I have fought the good fight,and finish the race.

Prayer-meeting tomorrow. Dun forget!!!! 6-7 pm^^

This weekend, Bro. Shyju Mathew, a 23-year old preacher from Bangalore, India spoke at a series of meetings at my local church. He is a man of God who preaches as the Spirit leads and is very anointed. At every meeting, miracles and healings took place. Truly God is wonderful! He works in ways we cannot see and comprehend. I shed my first tears in many many years as I saw God's love at work before my eyes. A little girl who could barely walk properly because of her weak knees was able to run and jump after a miracle touch from God. She just couldn't stop smiling and praising God! After being prayed for, she was slain in the spirit and lay on the floor. She was still beaming as brightly as ever before while on the floor. My heart was simply touched and I was left in awe of how beautiful God's love for us is. Praise be to God!

There was this huge crazy ammount of people who came for Captain Ball on Monday. And again on Wednesday. Totally awesome right? xD
There was sooo many people on monday, we had to take turns to play! Yep, we split the amount of people into four groups! We've only ever split into two, I'm sure this is a record breaker. Thanks for coming guys!! I actually thought there wouldn't be many people coming... But i was proven wrong. xD
On wednesday we were wondering, based on the people who went for CBall, how many would go for cf, and proven again, plenty of new people. =D And this is before Exhibition week! Absolutely good news. New people, I hope you guys keep coming =D

All those who went for Why Love? camp, you all remember Kevin Tan? (If I'm not mistaken it was him who came up with the new and improved Mafia)
Well, Brian (from ICSJ) told me yesterday that he's still sick, from camp. It's three weeks now and this is kinda worrysome... So, if you guys would be so nice as to pray for him, that would be great.
Also, Brian tells me that Kevin was hearing things and vomitting green stuff... Some sort of spiritual attack? Anyway, he also happened to have slept on the same double decker bed as Samson (who was sick halfway through camp and had to go back and later on got diagnosed with H1N1, and now recovered)

It would be a great help if you could keep him in your prayers. For all those who don't know Kevin Tan and didn't go for camp, well you can always still pray for a brother in christ. Believe in the name of Jesus, and keep Kevin in your prayers. I'll try to keep you all updated on his situation.

Yeah, it's a new semester, and guess what... our Wednesday CF meetings are back! Just like the way our lecturers are handing out assignments so soon, CF will start early due to the short semester. And from the looks of it, you guys are in for an exploding good time! Our theme this week is EXPLODE. It will be the opening ceremony, so what better way to open it than with an explosion... and fireworks... and food!

Because there isn’t enough weeks in this semester to accommodate all of our planned activates, the CF meetings will start before Inti’s Exhibition Week (when students officially register for clubs). Only after the Exhibition Week will we have our customary Fellowship Lunch and a meeting to welcome newcomers.

However, you are encouraged to bring new friends for this coming week’s meeting. Both Christians and non-Christians are welcome. Also, please spread the word among the other regular CF'ers about this meeting. The program will be pretty light, with focus on fun and games, and a short sharing by Chun Chung from FES. So do come and contribute to the explosive atmosphere!

ICF loves Malaysia! Merdeka! =)

At 11.30am yesterday, a bunch on us who are in campus already gathered together for a Merdeka countdown! Our fellow CFers from INTI Subang, Kylie and Lionel, joined us for this festive period too. We had a small march past to give sweets to everyone who were still awake during that period with all the lagu-lagu Merdeka like Tanggal 31 accompanying us, thanks to our music machine that consisted of one Ipod nano and a portable speaker. Our sassy chairperson, Miss Jia Lerd leads us throughout the hostel blocks to spread the joy of Merdeka to our fellow Malaysians, security guards, international students and anyone that we see (including a McDonalds deliveryman!). Do check out the video of our little march past and celebration! =p

ICSJ-CF Camp! -Why Love?

A total of 9 individuals from ICF(nilai) joined the Inti Subang people for Why Love? Camp.

I think the most of us, when we first got there, felt a little... lost. After all we were out numbered 4 or 5 to 1. Pastor Victor Gonzales, the senior pastor of Banting GFS was the speaker, so that helped =) For myself, before going there I was pretty excited, upon reaching there I was unsure, and when I left, I had no regrets! We all got to know many new different and interesting people, and learned a number of things during the camp. I'm pretty sure most of us left that camp, blessed.

I have to say, they did a great job with the camp and for those of you who didn't join us in going, let's just say you missed out on some really good stuff =D And I'm talking about the sermon as well okay!

A CF-er is someone who...

1. gets together with other CF-ers for spiritual purposes: for sharing needs, for prayer, for discussing and sharing the Word to encourage, comfort, and edify one another.

2. works together with other CF-ers and cares for one another as a company of people, like a company of soldiers or members of a family.

3. manifests the the qualities or spirit of Jesus in their lives: Christlike.

Core components of a Christian Fellowship:
-Relationship
-Partnership
-Companionship
-Stewardship

Relationship: The Foundation For Fellowship
-As believers in Christ, we are related to Christ and to each other in that we have been joined into union with Him; we are members of His body through the baptizing work of the Holy Spirit. Fellowship means we share this relationship and it is an objective fact regardless of our spiritual condition (cf. 1 Cor 1:2 with 3:1-3).

Partnership: The Means of Fellowship
- The Fellowship of the Holy Spirit

All aspects of fellowship are dependent upon the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Before salvation, fellowship with God in the sense of relationship (union) depends on His pre-salvation work, the conviction of truth, followed by His work of regeneration and baptizing accompanied by the Spirit’s indwelling as a gift of the Father and the Son (John 16:8, 2 Thess. 2:13, Tit. 3:5, 1 Cor. 12:12,13). After salvation the experience of fellowship in communion with God depends on the filling of the Spirit.

- Fellowship in the Gospel

Acts 2:42 And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Central to these believers’ fellowship was the teaching of the apostles. Being devoted to our relationship, partnership, companionship, and stewardship depends on our devotion to Scripture.
All believers share in common the life of Christ positionally and experientially. Consequently, they also share with one another in Christ’s enterprise on earth.

Companionship: The Method of Fellowship
- Fellowship with God: The vertical dimension

Companionship, as suggested previously, involves communion or communication, interchange, intimacy, sharing and receiving. If there is going to be fellowship with God, we must first draw on the Lord’s resources as we listen to Him in His Word, as we allow the Spirit of God to talk to us through Scripture and through the various providential events of life (trials, blessings, etc.) and through the lives of others around us. We need to be open to Him, receptive, teachable. In our communion with the Lord, we need to listen to His voice and respond in obedience.

- Fellowship with Christians: The Horizontal dimension

God has created us to be dependent people—dependent on Him and on one another. His judgment in Genesis 2:18, “it is not good for the man to be alone,” is a principle that speaks not only to marriage, but to all of life and especially to the spiritual fellowship of all believers.
No man is an island. None of us has the ability to go it alone. We need the communion or companionship of one another.
We should not … think of our fellowship with other Christians as a spiritual luxury, an optional addition to the exercises of private devotion. We should recognize rather that such fellowship is a spiritual necessity; for God has made us in such a way that our fellowship with himself is fed by our fellowship with fellow-Christians, and requires to be so fed constantly for its own deepening and enrichment.

Stewardship: The Overflow of Fellowship

Giving, the steward of our material blessings, is also a part of our fellowship, our sharing in the work of the Savior as we experience His life, His values and priorities in our own lives through our fellowship with Him.
As believers in partnership with the Savior, we are not owners, but stewards of the things God has given us which includes not only our talents (spiritual gifts), our temple (our body), our time, and God’s truth, but also the treasures, the material blessings God gives us.
Therefore use all the things God has given us wisely. And most importantly use it for God's glory and according to His will.

Hey all, just yesterday I told you bout a site of making a difference... Here's a few stories (out of 200+ pages of stories) about how someone's life was touched thanks to another...

Today I was walking to my $60 voice lesson, with the money in my pocket. It fell, I didn't notice. (I'm 14, that's alot to me) A man picked it up and gave it to me so quickly that he couldn't even have considered keeping it for himself.It restored my faith in humanity. :] MLIG

Today, I was helping my papa get ready for a small cook-out in the back of his condominium complex. He saw a familiar elderly man, who lives by himself with his wife in a nursing home suffering with Alzheimers, sitting by himself at a nearby table. My papa invited him to join us and completely made the man's day. HisLifeIsG

Tonight, crying for the first time in 6 months,reading so many stories on MLIG has made me realize that I can have faith in people. I believe in love again. MLIG

Today I took slips of paper and wrote things like "Whoever picks this up, if you're ever feeling lonely or need somebody to talk to, there's someone you can call." I then included my number and have been placing them somewhere at each place I go. This site is the reason I finally got up the courage to be the kind person I once was again. Thanks everyone. Our lives are amazing, hopefully I'll help out someone else's.

Last night, I was lying in bed feeding my dog crackers and watching a movie. She looked up at me with the only smile I've ever seen on an animal, and the one I've been seeing for years. I know every time she looks at me she thanks me for saving her life that one night when I took her in from the woods. HLIG because of me.

The first week in July at the camp I attended I made many friends, one whom opened up to me and felt I was someone he could talk to. At the end of the camp, he came up to me and told me how much I helped him try to get through some of his issues and all the lessons I taught him. I love helping people this way, MLIG.

Today, a suicidal friend was being all gloom and doom. I couldn't take it and told them to be thankful for having a life to live! I was born with a heart/brain problem and could die any given day. After I told them that, something clicked in their mind. They couldn't understand how I could live like that. I told them "cause I don't have any other choice" They told me "you're strong". I told "you are too". I'm now helping them to learn to enjoy life again. Our Lives Are Good [and will be getting better!]

Yesterday, my college offered me $10,000 to take a gap year. Last week, I was going to be heading off to another year of studying my butt off next month but instead I'm going to be traveling the world to help kids in impoverished countries. MLIG

Today I delivered food to a local food bank. Homeless men helped us unload the food into the pantry. After unloading, I sat and talked with a homeless man. He told me that his whole life he's watched his dreams be crushed by the reality he wouldn't be able to accomplish them. With tears running down his face, he told me that by me sitting and listening with him and providing him with food meant so much to him. It really made me realize how much I have, and how GREAT my life truly is! mlig.

Hey guys, I know, weird time to be posting something....

I was just reading about 17 pages of short encouraging everyday stories from how someone made their day just by a smile or how it felt awesome to give a poor man food or how it was awesome spending time with their friends after a long time of not seeing each other... (If you're wondering where I read all these, I'm only posting the site link here after exams... cos it's really addictive =.= to me anyway =/)

And while reading these stories, my winamp decided to play 'In christ Alone'...

H1N1 in Inti?

We probably have had heard from many people about H1N1 in Inti.
I got this off IntiOnline...

There have been a lot of rumours going around, guys please do NOT listen to them. The official release is as follows

The following are the latest updates as at 5th August 2009 for your information:

1) Number of staff who displayed flu-like symptoms and asked to self-quarantine – 19. (All these colleagues are currently on medical leave.)

2) Number of staff who were sent to the Nilai Cancer Institute for observation – None

3) Number of students who were sent to the Nilai Cancer Institute for observation – 6. (1 was admitted to hospital for observation and 5 were discharged)

4) Number of confirmed cases – staff and/or students – 1 (Already discharged from hospital on Tuesday).

Please guys do not panic, the issue of A H1N1 is being addressed and closely monitored. I hope that this post will reassure you.

Nevertheless remember to uphold each other in prayer. =)

Last week was officially our last week for CF meetings, but some of us felt the need to continue praying no matter what.
This week we had 17 people turn up for Prayer Meeting *claps claps claps* This is more than our usual for the past semester and I pray it continues to grow.
Also, Prayer Meeting will be ON AGAIN NEXT WEEK, and I hope you do join us.. heh. we might even continue this during our exams (who knows. xD)

Once again, like every other week, the worship team is practicing their songs, the people are in their rooms sleeping or online or roaming somewhere around inti, and it's only about an hour plus till ICF starts.

This week we look forward to an interesting topic. If you've been keeping up with the topics and this blog, you'd know today we venture into When LOVE Comes! We'd be looking into things to do with BGR(Boy Girl Relationship) of course we have to remember God!

So while we continue practicing for you guys, I hope you all are anticipating great things to happen!

That's right! ICF annual drama competition is back! This time with more humour and fun. So, why not take this chance to express your hidden talent? Who knows maybe you are really talented after all. It is now open for registration!(Since monday actually :D) By the way, registration is free!

For those who want to register, you can visit our booth at:
Time: 10am - 4pm
Venue: Beside bakery (in front of SAO office)
Date: 15^th June 2009 - 26^th June 2009

These are the information that you'll need to know if you want to register:
1)Each group can only consist of a maximum of 4 people.
2)Each group must pick only ONE(1) title, theme, character, tag line and props (don't worry, we will provide the props for you)

I've also uploaded the poster for you guys. As you can see, the event is on 1^st July. So if you register now, you will have around 2 weeks to prepare!

We are currently opening our registration to 10 groups only! Siapa cepat dia dapat!

The excitement is building, word has been passed around, Inti has been spammed, the band has practiced, the deco-cum-promo group has done it's work (with still a little bit left) now all that's left, is for YOU, YES YOU!!!! to come to the sports hall, and sit back and enjoy yourself for some CRAZY guitar moves by the one and only, BEAU BRISTOW!!!!

30 hours famine

Harlow guys and girls,

if you're observant enough, you might have noticed the 30 hour famine booth at SAO concourse since last week. hmm~ so, just a little something to let you ponder upon~

What is this 30 hour famine all about?
why do i have to know and why should i take part or donate money to it?
acTually, it is a charity event organized by World Vision( a christian organization) with the main purpose of helping the children in hunger and reaching out to them. therefore the donation will go to children all over the world who struggles for survival because of poverty.

Have you ever stopped for a moment to think of your life, your blessed life?
How blessed for you to live in this country, to be able to have a family, to have education, and to even have a chance of knowing God in your lifetime.

Most of your worries would be on your examinations, your relationship with your friends……….While their worries, would be whether they can survive through the hunger of the next meal, whether any of their family members will be one of those who died out of hunger.

You do not have to worry about whether you will get your next meal. No worries of whether you will be sold off in exchange for a pack of rice for your family’s survival. No worries of being sent to the orphanage because your parents cannot afford to feed you. But THEY DO.

Life is full of choices. Live something larger than yourself. Help to save lives, at the same time, get closer to God and closer to people. Experience it yourself~

It's currently one hour to the middle of the weekend.

While some people are enjoying the air cond, sitting on a bed, reading a book, playing games, out to yum cha, or simply plain bored somewhere in Malaysia, we have 3 people roaming Inti grounds.

Why?

As you all may have heard or seen around, Islam Awareness Week (IAW) is this coming week. 1st June to 4th June. Now this is NOT a prmotion for them.
If you've been paying attention, you'd know, Beau Bristow concert is on 4th June. Which is the last day of IAW.

They've started putting up flyers. And tonight 3 souls, roaming Inti grounds are spamming it (with the approval of SAO of course) with Beau Bristow posters... you may have already seen some of them on the bridge. But we are currently going all out to make the event known!

Pray.

This is a Muslim country after all that we're living in. And although we do have permission to put up all these posters, I'm afraid we may have some trouble. May. I don't know what kind of trouble, but I know that we're going head on with IAW.

Also, it IS an open doors event, to anyone and everyone who would like to come. It's completely free so we don't know how many people may come, and we don't know what kind of people are coming.

So I urge you, whether you're a member of ICF, participant, or maybe you didn't even come to the booth or plan to go for ICF, I still ask that you, as long as you're a christian, pray for us. We don't want any trouble with them.

I hope you'll keep this event in your prayers.

Beau Bristow: Live In Inti UC!

Next week. Thursday. 4th June. 7 pm. Sports Hall

Lately, you may have noticed posters and banners around campus spotting the word “BEAU BRISTOW”. Who/what is that? No, it’s not a type of drink or a Division One football club. It’s Beau Bristow, THE Beau Bristow! And he is making a stop at Inti UC (Nilai) as part of his Malaysia tour.

“Beau who?” you may ask. First, you must learn to pronounce his name properly. Repeat after me: BALL. Yeah it’s pronounced ‘ball’, as in football.
Anyway, Beau Bristow is an indie artist from Nashville, Tennessee (USA). His music style is a fusion of Classical, Jazz, and Folk Rock. Think Jason Mraz. One unique feature about Beau Bristow is that he uses the technique of looping, which allows him to produce the music of an entire band with only just one guitar. Cool, ain't it? However, this time he will also be accompanied by a drummer who will be playing a special type of drum.

Beau Bristow is extremely popular with university/college students. He has been to countless universities/colleges around the US to perform in gigs such as this. As a relatively young performer (in his twenties), and someone who has undergone university life, Beau Bristow can easily relate to students. The songs he writes focus on his life experiences and struggles.

You will also have a chance to meet him up close and personal during the autograph session. His newest album, “Standing Still”, will be available for sale on that night (RM25). The album is quite hard to come across locally, so take this chance to acquire your very own copy, and get it autographed by Beau Bristow himself.

In addition to Beau Bristow, the ICF band will also be performing on that night. They will be attempting some new songs, and it’s a chance to see them play like never before! If that is not enough, we will also be trying to arrange a hip-hop dance performance to spice up the evening.

For those who enjoy music, this is not an event to be missed. Mark the date 4th of June (NEXT Thursday) on your calendar. It is for one night only, and most importantly, admission is FREEE! Also, do bring your friends along. It will be a pretty amazing night, with rock numbers by the band, pumped-up dance moves, and Beau Bristow’s invigorating tunes!

Working Together

At ICF, we not only meet for meetings, pray together and learn the word together... ouh and of course dinner and captain ball, but we also help each other.

When I say that, I refer to working together to achieve one goal. Team building and all that. Just yesterday a few of us were at SAO concourse painting in the heat (thank God for fans!) a nice big 3x1 banner, on the floor.

We worked from 4.30(ish)pm, till about 9.30.. and cleaned up and rested and waited for dinner till about 10.30... Yes, we ate at 10.30pm...

Now, despite the crazy hours and conditions, I can honestly say I enjoyed myself. Things like these, help us get to know each other better. Including how we work, how we talk, how we react, and even each other's compilation of lame jokes! =) Honestly it was great fun, as tiring as it was... Hey, we all had MCD at the end for a reward!

Our first cg meetings for the semester was yesterday!! Did you guys all enjoy cg?
We have our very own cg leaders catering for all different people and different cg environment!
Right now we have 3 cg leaders, so what am I waiting for in introducing them?
First up we have Daniel Cheng! Mix up a caring and dedicated person with a warm and fun loving lively personality and there you get Daniel! A great friend in time of need, doesn't hesitate to share out his opinion or express his thoughts which can be very thought provoking or challenging. Sharp and alert at all times ( I personally never seen him blank), and very capable of leading bible studies. Though extremely fun loving and full of excitement, he can also be serious when he needs to, especially when real listening skills are needed. Very spontaneous and inspiring person. >.< ( i personally known him for more than 15 years, take my word for it)
2nd, Erwin! Calm and controlled, he is an extremely great person to be around with. Musically talented and very self-sacrificing. Capable of being a great comforter and encourager. Forget his blur look, he is very observant as well, or so I think. Though firm in his stands, he is diplomatic as well. Another good listener, and makes a great cg leader. ( I'm from his cg! see you there!)
Lastly, Eden. Quiet and peaceful, she is a considerate, and pretty resourceful person. Is a patient and faithful person. Capable of speaking Chinese fluently, (even help me came out with the han yu pin ying for a song) that's why she leads the Chinese cg.
So promotion time over, and see you on Friday, at the academic block from 12 -2 pm! money back not available ( you are paying for nothing in the first place)

Holaa holaa, there is prayer meeting today! gather infront of SAO around 5.50 (according to stanlee) The venue should be at the employee's room. It's next to Intima.

Prayer meetings an important part of cf. Besides cg which will be taking place tomorrow at the academic block, prayer meetings teaches how to pray! Honestly, I grew a lot due to the prayer meetings!!

Hey all! Well, currently I'm sitting in SC-1-1a waiting for cf to start... and this is why it's called ICF LIVE... Chairs are being arranged, guys are jamming, people are mingling (I'm typing...) and we're all pretty excited for the first official meeting for ICF this semester... and ibans are surrounding me...

There'll be games, songs, fun, and even a video that may just embarrass most of the committee....I hope you made it to cf already by the time you read this (which would mean you should be on your way this very second I'm typing this...) and I hope you had a great time =D

Captain Ball!

Whoah! I hope you guys enjoyed our very first captain ball game of the semester! For those of you who might be wondering what captain ball really is, it is actually a type of sport which is a combination of both football and basketball.

The rules are pretty simple:
1)Not moving while the ball is in your hands (similar to basketball)
2)You cannot steal the ball from others when they already have the ball in their hands
3)You can only use your hands to catch and throw the ball

In order to score points you'll need to throw the ball to your team's catcher. A catcher is a person who stands on a chair to catch the ball. If the catcher catches the ball which is thrown by a guy from the catcher's team it is 1 point while girls will get 2 points. So captain ball is a game suitable for both boys and girls.

If you're interested to join us for a friendly match of captain ball, these are the particulars:
Venue: INTI Field
Day: Every Monday
Time: 6.00pm - 7.30pm

There will be captain ball every week provided that the field is not wet and it it not raining on that day. We'll be uploading pictures of the game soon. So stay tune for the pics!
